What are the Rituals of Hajj?

Here are the rituals of Hajj are discussed in detail.

Rituals of Hajj

Wear ihram

Men and women wear special garments to attain the state of purity and humility. Men wear two pieces of unstitched white cloth. One over the shoulder (Rida) and the other around the waist (Izar). Hajjis are allowed to wear ihram before reaching the miqat.

Perform tawaf

Tawaf is the circling of the Holy Kaaba seven times in a row. In every circle, pilgrims should recite supplications.

Perform the Sai.

Sai includes seven rounds between the mountains of Safa and Marwah. It reminds pilgrims of the patience of Hazrat Hajjara (A.S.), which motivates them to perform this sacred journey with calm and peace.

Go to Arafat

In which pilgrims stay at the plain of Arafat for some hours and make supplications.

Stay at Muzdalifah.

Pilgrims spend the night in the open sky without a camp.

Throw stones at the devil (Jamarat)

Pilgrims used to throw pebbles at the three pillars of the devil to make him refuse.

Sacrifice an animal after the Jamarat.

Pilgrims sacrifice an animal for Eid al-Adha

Tawaf ul IfadahTawaf ul Ifadah

After performing the rituals mentioned above, pilgrims again go towards the Holy Kaaba for the tawaf.

Tawaf ul wida

Pilgrims used to perform it to say their last salaam to the Holy Kaba before leaving to their hometown.
